The short answer

Most stalled casino withdrawals have an ordinary cause: an identity check, bonus wagering that is not finished, a limit, or a crypto transfer sent on the wrong network. Find your symptom in the table below, collect the evidence, and escalate in order: casino support, a written complaint, the casino’s dispute service, then an independent mediator or the regulator.

Two rules apply to every case. Never pay a fee to release your winnings, and never re-deposit “to unlock” a withdrawal. Both are standard scam moves. This is general information, not legal advice, and no Canadian regulator handles complaints about offshore operators.

For how the process normally works and how long it should take, see our crypto casino withdrawals guide. This page is a troubleshooting flow by symptom instead.

Find your symptom

What you see Most likely cause What to do
Status “pending” for hours or a few days Manual review queue, first or large withdrawal Ask support for the stage and expected date, and get a ticket number
Asked for ID, proof of address or source of funds Verification (KYC) rules Send exactly what is asked through the casino’s own upload page. See no KYC explained
Withdrawal cancelled, money back in balance Active bonus, wagering unfinished, limit exceeded, or a rule break Ask which clause applies. See wagering requirements
Casino says “sent”, nothing in your wallet Network confirmations, wrong network, or exchange crediting delay Look up the transaction hash on a block explorer
Account frozen, closed or winnings voided The casino alleges a terms breach (multiple accounts, restricted country, bonus abuse) Ask for the specific clause in writing, then complain formally
Support stopped replying Understaffed or stalling Escalate in writing with a deadline
Someone asks you to pay a fee, tax or deposit first Scam Stop. Do not pay. See scam red flags

Why withdrawals stall, one cause at a time

KYC and source of funds

Licensed casinos usually have anti-money-laundering duties, and the Curacao rules set an identity check threshold (see our Curacao licence guide). Documents are often requested at the first withdrawal or when amounts reach a threshold. Send clear, uncropped files that match the name on the account, and answer exactly what was asked. A rejected document should come with a reason: ask for it.

Bonus wagering

If you accepted a bonus, the casino may hold your balance until the wagering is finished, and may cap the maximum bet while it runs. Here is a purely hypothetical example: a 100 unit bonus with 30x wagering on the bonus means 3,000 units of bets before the bonus counts as cleared. Many terms say that withdrawing earlier cancels the bonus and any winnings from it, but this differs by casino, so read the terms you agreed to. Many “not paying out” complaints trace back to wagering, max bet or game weighting rules.

Limits

Casinos set minimum, daily, weekly or monthly withdrawal limits. A large win can be paid in instalments. Check whether the terms say so, and ask support for the payment schedule in writing.

Network and address problems

If the casino shows a transaction hash, paste it into a public block explorer for that coin. Three outcomes: it is unconfirmed (network congestion, usually it resolves), it is confirmed to your address (then the delay is on your wallet or exchange), or it was sent on a different network from the one your address uses. Bitcoin.org notes that a confirmed transaction “can only be refunded by the person receiving the funds”, so a wrong network may need help from the receiving platform and is not guaranteed to be fixable. Check your own exchange’s deposit rules too, since some platforms set minimum amounts or need a memo or tag.

How to escalate, in order

  1. Support with specific questions. Ask why the withdrawal is pending, which rule applies, what is outstanding and by when it will be resolved. Ask for a ticket number.
  2. A written complaint. Use the complaint address in the terms. For Curacao licensees, the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK) article 5.3 lets a player complain to the licensee free of charge within six months of an incident. The licensee must confirm receipt within one week and answer within four weeks (extendable once by four weeks), and the complaint must be written in English, Dutch or Papiamentu and describe what the complaint is about. The licensee must also offer alternative dispute resolution at its own cost.
  3. The licence holder’s dispute route. Anjouan’s complaint policy says complaints go to the operator first through the complaint function on its licence seal, with an operator response due within 30 calendar days. Game outcome disputes must be filed within 14 calendar days of the session, and account disputes within 30 days, with escalation to an approved alternative dispute resolution provider afterwards. Check the time limits for your operator’s licence early.
  4. An independent mediation service. AskGamblers runs a free complaint service. It asks you to exhaust the casino’s own options first and to provide evidence such as screenshots, emails and chat transcripts, and says it will probably not accept a complaint if you have breached the casino’s terms. These sites are not regulators and cannot force payment.
  5. The licensing authority. The Curacao Gaming Authority says it does not handle disputes between players and operators, but a complaint or pattern of complaints that points to a possible violation of the law may lead it to act. Anjouan’s regulator says it does not handle, mediate or adjudicate player complaints. The Kahnawake Gaming Commission requires you to go to the operator first, and warns that an investigation may be discontinued or a complaint invalidated if it has been discussed on a public forum or is being addressed by another recognized organization. The Malta Gaming Authority has a complaint form for its licensees and strongly recommends contacting the operator first.

Because of the Kahnawake note, consider holding off on public forum posts about your case until you have taken advice on which route you want.

What not to do

If you believe you were defrauded, report to local police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (reportcyberandfraud.canada.ca, 1-888-495-8501 on weekdays, as of 7 October 2026), as described in our scam red flags guide.

Check before you deposit next time

Most of this pain is avoidable with a licence check and a small test withdrawal. See how to check a casino licence, how to choose a crypto casino and, if you want to compare operators, the casinos we compare on our best crypto casinos page.

A note on responsible play

Waiting on a withdrawal can make people chase losses. Gambling is for adults: 19+ in most provinces (18+ in Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta). Set limits, and see our responsible gambling page for support in your province.
